SYNOPSIS
Requires completion of no more than 18 credits of continuing education for renewal of burglar alarm licenses.

An Act concerning continuing education requirements for burglar alarm licensees and supplementing P.L.1962, c.162 (C.45:5A-1 et seq.).
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. Notwithstanding the provisions of paragraph (3) of subsection a. of section 7 of P.L.1997, c.305 (C.45:5A-27), or any other law, rule or regulation to the contrary, each applicant for triennial license renewal of a burglar alarm license shall complete during the preceding triennial period no more than 18 credits of continuing education.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill specifies that each applicant for triennial license renewal of a burglar alarm license shall complete during the preceding triennial period no more than 18 credits of continuing education.
Currently, the Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors mandates, by regulation (N.J.A.C.13:31A-1.12), that all burglar alarm, fire alarm and locksmith licensees complete a minimum of 36 credits of continuing education as a prerequisite to renewing their licenses.
