SYNOPSIS

     Revises notice requirements by CATV companies for changes to station channel positions.

 

CURRENT VERSION OF TEXT

     As reported by the Assembly Regulatory Oversight and Gaming Committee on January 20, 2011, with amendments.

  


An Act concerning notice of cable television channel 1[allocation] position1 changes and supplementing P.L.1972, c.186 (C.48:5A-1 et seq.).

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    Consistent with federal law, any rule, regulation, or order of the board requiring cable television companies to provide notice to the board and any affected municipalities and subscribers of a 1[video programming channel allocation]1 change 1[of] in channel position of programming carried by1 the CATV company shall require such notice to be made as soon as possible in writing.  Notice shall be given to subscribers a minimum of 30 days in advance of 1[such changes] any change in channel position of programming1 if the change is within the control of the CATV company.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect on the 60th day after the date of enactment, but the Board of Public Utilities may take such anticipatory administrative action in advance thereof as shall be necessary for the implementation of this act.
