     Requires NJ State Council on the Arts to create website listing art in public buildings in NJ.

An Act concerning art in public buildings and supplementing P.L.1978, c.117 (C.52:16A-29 et seq.).

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    The New Jersey State Council on the Arts shall create and maintain a list of fine arts elements incorporated in public buildings pursuant to the "Public Buildings Arts Inclusion Act," P.L.1978, c.117 (C.52:16A-29 et seq.), after the date of enactment of this act, and provide information about them, including the address of each building and a photograph of the fine arts element incorporated therein, on the council's Internet website.  The information shall be searchable and available in an interactive format through the council's Internet website.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill would require the New Jersey State Council on the Arts to create and maintain a list of fine arts elements incorporated in public buildings pursuant to the "Public Buildings Arts Inclusion Act," after the date of enactment of this bill into law, and provide information about them, including the address of each public building and a photograph of the fine arts element incorporated therein, on the council's website.  The information would be searchable and available in an interactive format through the council's website.

     This bill would replicate a similar responsibility of the Ohio Arts Council, which displays photographs and information about artwork in public buildings in Ohio.
