SYNOPSIS
Clarifies use of motor vehicle headlights to warn oncoming traffic of certain road conditions is permissible.

An Act concerning the use of headlights on motor vehicles and supplementing Title 39 of the Revised Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. No person operating a motor vehicle shall be subject to a penalty under R.S.39:3-60, or any other section of law, for flashing the vehicle's headlamps in the direction of oncoming traffic to warn the operator of another motor vehicle of a traffic accident, a road hazard, or of the presence of law enforcement officers enforcing the speed limit.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill clarifies that it is permissible for the operator of a motor vehicle to flash his or her headlights in the direction of oncoming traffic to warn the operator of another motor vehicle of a traffic accident, a road hazard, or the presence of law enforcement officers enforcing the speed limit.
