SYNOPSIS

     Simplifies the certification process for out-of-State school district administrators.

An Act concerning the certification of school district administrators and supplementing chapters 17 and 26 of Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    An individual holding a valid out-of-State school administrator certificate shall be eligible for a school administrator endorsement without additional requirements.

 

     2.    An individual holding a valid out-of-State principal certificate shall be eligible for a principal endorsement without additional requirements.

 

     3.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill will allow an individual with an out-of-State school administrator certificate to be eligible for a school administrator endorsement in New Jersey without additional requirements.  Under State Board of Education rules, a school administrator endorsement is required for any position that involves services as a district-level administrative officer.  These positions include superintendent of schools, assistant superintendent of schools, and director.  The bill will also allow an individual with an out-of-State principal certificate to be eligible for a principal endorsement without additional requirements.
