SYNOPSIS

     Limits the compensation of school district employees, other than teachers, to $5,000 less than the Commissioner of Education's salary.

An Act concerning the compensation of school district employees and supplementing chapter 16 of Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    The total of the salary and all other forms of compensation provided by a school district to an employee other than a teacher, shall not exceed an amount equal to $5,000 less than the salary of the Commissioner of Education as fixed by law. 

 

     2.    The limit on compensation set forth in section 1 of this act shall not affect the terms of an employment contract entered into by a school district prior to the effective date of P.L.  c.  (C.  ) (pending before the Legislature as this bill).

 

     3.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill provides that the total of the salary and all other forms of compensation provided by a school district to an employee other than a teacher, may not exceed an amount equal to $5,000 less than the salary of the Commissioner of Education as fixed by law. Under the bill, the limit on compensation will not affect the terms of an employment contract entered into by a school district prior to the effective date of the bill.
