SYNOPSIS
Makes supplemental appropriation of $15,100,000 from General Fund to DOE to increase per pupil funding for nonpublic security aid from $150 to $250.

A Supplement and amendment to "An Act making appropriations for the support of the State Government and the several public purposes for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2020 and regulating the disbursement thereof, " approved June 30, 2019 (P.L.2019, c.150).
Be It Enacted by the Senate and the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. In addition to the amounts appropriated under P.L.2019, c.150, the annual appropriations act for Fiscal Year 2020, there is appropriated out of the General Fund the following sum for the purpose specified:

2. The following language provision in section 1 of P.L.2019, c.150, the annual appropriations act for Fiscal Year 2020, is amended to read as follows:

From the amount hereinabove appropriated for Nonpublic Security Aid, the Commissioner of Education shall provide State aid to each school district in an amount equal to [$150] $250 multiplied by the number of nonpublic school students within the district identified by the district on or before November 5 for security services, equipment, or technology to ensure a safe and secure school environment for nonpublic school students.
3. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill makes a supplemental
appropriation of $15.1 million
from the General Fund to the Department of Education to increase funding for nonpublic security aid. Under the fiscal year 2020 appropriations act, school districts received $150 per student enrolled in a nonpublic school located in the district for the purpose of providing security services, equipment, or technology to the nonpublic school. This bill increases the funding to $250 per pupil.
