STATEMENT

This bill requires the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA) to annually post the graduation rates of State tuition aid grant recipients on its website. The information will include, but not be limited to: (1) the two-year, four-year, and six-year average graduation rates, as applicable, of tuition aid grant recipients for county colleges, four-year public colleges and universities, independent colleges and universities, and proprietary degree-granting institutions; and (2) the graduation rate for grant recipients at each institution of higher education and each proprietary degree-granting institution.

Under the bill, each institution of higher education and each proprietary degree-granting institution is required to provide data to HESAA that will enable it to post the graduation rates of grant recipients. HESAA will also post the average transfer rate of State tuition aid grant recipients for the county college sector, and the transfer rate for tuition aid grant recipients at each county college.

The bill also requires each institution of higher education and each proprietary degree-granting institution, by September 1 of each year, to provide HESAA with the data necessary for the authority to post the information on its website. HESAA is then required to post the information on its website by November 1 of each year. The data will be provided beginning with the 2014-2015 academic year graduation rates.
