1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating Mike Johnson on being named Hastings Educator of the Year.
1.3WHEREAS, the Hastings Minnesota Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau
1.4annually recognizes an outstanding local educator; and
1.5WHEREAS, the selection committee received numerous nominations for Hastings High
1.6School principal Mike Johnson from teachers and parents in the Hastings community who highlighted
1.7his outstanding leadership, approachability, kindness, and ability to lift the spirits of staff, parents,
1.8and students during a difficult time; and
1.9WHEREAS, Mike is described by his staff as engaged, empathetic, and willing to face
1.10challenges head on with compassion; and
1.11WHEREAS, Mike recently announced his retirement after serving 18 years as principal of
1.12Hastings High School; and
1.13WHEREAS, based on his outstanding accomplishments, Mike was named the Hastings
1.14Educator of the Year, which will be awarded by the Hastings Minnesota Area Chamber of Commerce
1.15and Tourism Bureau at the Annual Awards Dinner on February 24, 2022, at the Hastings Public
1.16House; and
1.17NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.18congratulates Mike Johnson on being named Educator of the Year and extends best wishes to him
1.19in his retirement.
1.20BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.21enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.22Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Mike Johnson.
