1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Goodhue High School girls basketball team on winning the State
1.3High School Class A girls basketball championship in back-to-back seasons.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Goodhue girls basketball team was one of eight teams that participated in
1.7the 2017 State High School Class A girls basketball tournament on March 16-18, 2017; and
1.8WHEREAS, after beating GHEC/Truman/Martin Luther 68-55 in the quarterfinals and
1.9Cromwell-Wright 70-48 in the semifinals, they defeated the Mountain Iron-Buhl Rangers 73-51 in
1.10the final game of the tournament in front of a large crowd of Wildcat fans at Williams Arena on
1.11the University of Minnesota campus to win the state championship; and
1.12WHEREAS, the Wildcats redeemed their earlier 78-34 loss to Mountain Iron-Buhl and
1.13finished the season with a hard-earned 28-4 record; and
1.14NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.15congratulations are extended to the members of the Goodhue High School girls basketball team for
1.16their sportsmanship and skill.
1.17BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.18enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.19Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal of Goodhue
1.20High School.
