1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Hopkins High School boys basketball team on winning
1.3the 2011 State High School Class AAAA boys basketball championship.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Hopkins basketball team participated in the 2011 State High School Class
1.7AAAA boys basketball tournament from March 23-26, 2011, at Target Center in Minneapolis; and
1.8WHEREAS, they defeated the Eden Prairie Eagles 64-52 in the final game of the
1.9tournament to win the state championship, their third consecutive state championship after also
1.10winning state titles in 2009 and 2010; and
1.11WHEREAS, the Royals finished the season with an outstanding 28-1 record; and
1.12NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota
1.13that congratulations are extended to the members of the Hopkins High School boys basketball
1.14team for their sportsmanship and skill.
1.15BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare
1.16an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of
1.17the Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal
1.18of Hopkins High School.
