1.1A Senate resolution
1.2recognizing Veda Kanitz for receiving the Willard Munger Award for Distinguished
1.3Environmental Stewardship.
1.4WHEREAS, those public servants who tirelessly advocate for the conservation and
1.5preservation of our environment perform a vital service that benefits generations to come; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Annual Humphrey Mondale Dinner is an opportunity for the DFL Party to
1.7honor Minnesotans who embody the values and legacy of historic DFL leaders for their contributions
1.8to the state; and
1.9WHEREAS, at the ninth annual dinner on September 24, 2020, the Willard Munger Award
1.10for Distinguished Environmental Stewardship was awarded to Veda Kanitz; and
1.11WHEREAS, Veda serves as the Chair of the DFL Party Environmental Caucus and has an
1.12enduring history of advocacy work on behalf of and in collaboration with a number of environmental
1.13groups in Minnesota; and
1.14WHEREAS, with a special emphasis on education, Veda's desire is to raise awareness and
1.15improve people's understanding of the urgent need to respect our natural resources and environment;
1.16and
1.17WHEREAS, Veda's commitment to her work has persevered despite the challenges of the
1.18COVID-19 pandemic, demonstrated by the Environmental Caucus' uninterrupted transition to online
1.19work; and
1.20NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.21congratulates Veda Kanitz for receiving the Willard Munger Award for Distinguished Environmental
1.22Stewardship and extends sincere gratitude for her many efforts.
2.1BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
2.2enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
2.3Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Veda Kanitz.
