1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the East Ridge High School boys swimming/diving team
1.3on their second-place finish in the 2014 State High School Class AA boys
1.4swimming/diving meet.
1.5WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.6sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.7WHEREAS, the East Ridge swimming/diving team, who won the Suburban East
1.8Conference championship for a second straight year and finished the regular season with an
1.9impressive 25-meet win streak in dual meets, was one of 37 teams that participated in the 2014
1.10State High School Class AA boys swimming/diving meet on February 27-March 1, 2014, at the
1.11University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis; and
1.12WHEREAS, the Raptors won three state championships: in the 200-yard medley relay,
1.13with a time of one minute, 35.60 seconds; in the 50-yard freestyle, with a time of 20.77 seconds;
1.14and in the 400-yard freestyle relay, with a time of three minutes, 7.69 seconds; and
1.15WHEREAS, these outstanding performances helped lead the Raptors to a second-place
1.16finish overall with a total of 194 points; and
1.17NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota
1.18that congratulations are extended to the members of the East Ridge High School boys
1.19swimming/diving team for their sportsmanship and skill.
1.20BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare
1.21an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of
1.22the Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal
1.23of East Ridge High School.
