1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring Chad Vua Her.
1.3WHEREAS, Chad Vua Her was born in Laos and received a Bachelor in Education in
1.4Vientiane in 1965; and
1.5WHEREAS, he served as Principal in the Long Cheng Public School Systems in Long
1.6Cheng, Laos, from 1965-1970 up until the Vietnam War; and
1.7WHEREAS, after the war, he became a refugee and immigrated to the United States and
1.8had to rebuild his life in a foreign country; and
1.9WHEREAS, in pursuit of his education, Chad went to the University of Chicago in Illinois
1.10to receive a Bilingual Teacher Training and Licensure in 1983; he taught bilingual classes in social
1.11studies and math to Hmong and Lao students at Edison Senior High School in Minneapolis from
1.121985-1989; and
1.13WHEREAS, Chad began serving the elderly community as an Elderly Assistant with Women's
1.14Association of Hmong and Lao in 1988, which began his passion in serving the elderly; and
1.15WHEREAS, his roles as a caseworker at Pilot City Neighborhood Services and Site Director
1.16of Tsev Laus Kaj Siab at Wingspan Life Resources from 1995-2006 affirmed his dream of service
1.17to the community and led him to open and co-own Hmong Elders Center in 2006; and
1.18WHEREAS, Hmong Elders Center's objective is to serve and meet the needs of Hmong
1.19elders within the metro area by providing, managing, and operating a dynamic and quality adult
1.20day care center; and
1.21NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.22celebrates Chad Vua Her's service to the community and his vision of care for the elderly in the
1.23State of Minnesota.
1.24BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.25enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.26Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Chad Vua Her.
