1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating Emily Peterson for receiving the Girl Scout Gold Award.
1.3WHEREAS, Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, helping girls
1.4to reach their full potential, develop positive values, and contribute to the improvement of society
1.5through their abilities, leadership skills, and cooperation with others; and; and
1.6WHEREAS, to earn the highest award given by the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A., the Gold
1.7Award, a Girl Scout in high school must complete leadership journeys that help her discover her
1.8interests, connect with others, and take action to make the world a better place. She must then
1.9complete a comprehensive and sustainable take action project that uses her talent and passion to
1.10positively impact her community; and
1.11WHEREAS, Emily Peterson is a serving and responsible member of the Girl Scouts and
1.12has completed all requirements necessary to earn the Gold Award; for her Girl Scout Gold Award
1.13project, Emily served her community by creating a Veteran's Memorial Garden in an area that
1.14was damaged due to road improvements to celebrate and thank veterans for their service to
1.15the country; and
1.16WHEREAS, she will receive the Gold Award at a Recognition Ceremony; and
1.17NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.18congratulates Emily Peterson for receiving the Girl Scout Gold Award.
1.19BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.20enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.21Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Emily Peterson.
