1.1A Senate resolution
1.2recognizing Gus Chafoulias for his contributions to the Rochester area.
1.3WHEREAS, our cities are enhanced by those individuals who tirelessly invest their time,
1.4effort, and capital for the betterment of their communities; and
1.5WHEREAS, Gus Chafoulias founded Chafoulias Companies in 1957 to focus on developing
1.6real estate asset classes, including office, hotel, retail, and affordable housing in Rochester,
1.7Minnesota. He now serves as the chairman of Titan Development & Investments, an organization
1.8that focuses on affordable housing, senior living, mixed use, and hospitality properties; and
1.9WHEREAS, in addition to his work as a longtime developer in Rochester, Gus has actively
1.10served his community as a board member for the Salvation Army, Diversity Council, First Bank,
1.11Southwest Casino Corporation, Leadership 100, Bolder Options, and Rochester Chamber of
1.12Commerce; and
1.13WHEREAS, Gus attributes his tremendous work ethic to the values instilled in him by his
1.14father, who was a restaurateur in Rochester; and
1.15WHEREAS, in 2017, Gus received the President's Award from the Rochester Chamber of
1.16Commerce for giving back to the community through his pioneering investment in Rochester during
1.17a time when development in the downtown area had stagnated and through his charity work; and
1.18NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.19recognizes Gus Chafoulias for his contributions to the city of Rochester, Minnesota.
1.20BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.21enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.22Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Gus Chafoulias.
