1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring Dr. Chong Chang Her.
1.3WHEREAS, Dr. Chong Chang Her immigrated to the United States as a refugee after the
1.4Vietnam War; and
1.5WHEREAS, Chong Chang passionately pursued his educational career in reach of the
1.6American dream, obtaining a GED at Des Moines Area Community College in 1983, a Bachelor
1.7in Ministry at Iowa Christian College in 1988, a Master of Ministry from Kentucky Christian
1.8University in Grayson, Kentucky, in 1996, and a Doctor of Family Counseling in Psychology from
1.9Freedom Bible College and Seminary in Rogers, Arkansas, in 2010; and
1.10WHEREAS, he passionately served the community wherever he resided as the treasurer and
1.11secretary of Lao Family Community Association in Des Moines, Iowa, from 1982 to 1987 and
1.12board member of Eau Claire Area Hmong Mutual Association in Wisconsin from 1992 to 1997;
1.13and
1.14WHEREAS, he currently serves the community nationally as the president of Hmong Lao
1.15America Vietnam Veterans Chapter #1 and the president of Hawj National Unity, Inc. of USA; and
1.16WHEREAS, his commitment and dedication in ministry work over the course of the past
1.17three decades in roles such as minister, elder, and director has prepared and equipped him to be the
1.18present senior minister of Hmong Christian Church in Eau Claire, Wisconsin; and
1.19WHEREAS, as the president and owner of Hmong American Insurance Services, Inc. and
1.20vice-president of United Insurance Agency in Eau Claire, his impact as a businessman has contributed
1.21immensely to the economic growth of the community; and
1.22NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.23celebrates Dr. Chong Chang Her and his legacy of love and service to the community that extends
1.24from Eau Claire into Minnesota.
2.1BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
2.2enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
2.3Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Dr. Chong Chang Her.
