1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the DeLaSalle High School girls basketball team on winning
1.3the 2012 State High School Class 3A girls basketball championship.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, the DeLaSalle basketball team was one of eight teams that participated in the
1.72012 State High School Class 3A girls basketball tournament on March 14-17, 2012; and
1.8WHEREAS, after beating Monticello 79-50 in the quarterfinals and Fergus Falls 59-51 in
1.9the semifinals, they defeated the Richfield Spartans 65-45 in the final game of the tournament at
1.10Target Center to win the state championship; and
1.11WHEREAS, the Islanders finished the season with an outstanding 28-3 record; and
1.12NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.13congratulations are extended to the members of the DeLaSalle High School girls basketball
1.14team for their sportsmanship and skill.
1.15BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare
1.16an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of
1.17the Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal
1.18of DeLaSalle High School.
