1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Benilde-St. Margaret's High School boys hockey
1.3team on winning the 2012 State High School Class 2A boys hockey
1.4championship.
1.5WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.6sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.7WHEREAS, the Benilde-St. Margaret's hockey team participated in the 2012 State High
1.8School Class 2A boys hockey tournament at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul from March
1.98-10, 2012; and
1.10WHEREAS, they defeated the Hill-Murray Pioneers 5-1 in the final game of the
1.11tournament to win the state championship; and
1.12WHEREAS, this is the Red Knights' first Class 2A title, and in the championship game,
1.13they were sparked by Junior Grant Besse's five goals; the win caps an amazing run for Benilde-St.
1.14Margaret's, who were fueled by the emotion of playing to honor teammate Jack Jablonski; and
1.15NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.16congratulations are extended to the members of the Benilde-St. Margaret's High School boys
1.17hockey team for their sportsmanship and skill.
1.18BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare
1.19an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of
1.20the Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal of
1.21Benilde-St. Margaret's High School.
