1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring Prudential Spirit of Community Award Distinguished Finalist Kelly Reger.
1.3WHEREAS, the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards are part of the nation's largest
1.4youth recognition program, based exclusively on volunteer service, and more than 30,000
1.5students across the nation participated in this year's program; and
1.6WHEREAS, Edina senior Kelly Reger was named a Distinguished Finalist for the 2015
1.7Prudential Spirit of Community Awards; and
1.8WHEREAS, Kelly has raised $2,000 by partnering with Cub Food Stores and local youth
1.9groups to bag groceries for the benefit of the University of Minnesota Cancer Research Center,
1.10where she has served 250 hours as an intern specializing in colon cancer research; and
1.11WHEREAS, Kelly also directs a celebrity tennis tournament called "Slam Cancer!" that
1.12she hopes will raise $100,000 for cancer research in 2015; and
1.13NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.14it recognizes Kelly Reger for her dedication to cancer research and congratulates her on being
1.15named a Distinguished Finalist in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards.
1.16BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.17enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.18Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Kelly Reger.
