1.2relating to county agricultural societies; appropriating money from the arts and
1.3cultural heritage fund for grants to county agricultural societies.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; COUNTY AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY
1.6GRANTS.
1.7$1,400,000 in fiscal year 2014 and $1,400,000 in fiscal year 2015 from the arts
1.8and cultural heritage fund are appropriated to the commissioner of agriculture for grants
1.9to county agricultural societies to enhance arts access and education and to preserve
1.10and promote Minnesota's history and cultural heritage as embodied in its county fairs.
1.11The grants are in addition to the aid distributed to county agricultural societies under
1.12Minnesota Statutes, section 38.02. Of these amounts:
1.13(1) $700,000 each year is available for distribution in equal amounts to each of the
1.14state's county fairs to enhance arts access and education and to preserve and promote
1.15Minnesota's history and cultural heritage; and
1.16(2) $700,000 each year is available for a competitive arts and cultural heritage
1.17grants program for county fairs.
1.18The commissioner shall award grants for the development or enhancement of county
1.19fair facilities or other projects or programs that provide access to the arts, arts education,
1.20or agricultural, historical, and cultural heritage programs, including, but not limited to,
1.21agricultural education centers, arts buildings, and performance stages. This is a onetime
1.22appropriation.
