1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to higher education; requiring cuts in spending for administrative costs at
1.3public higher education institutions.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5    Section 1. MINNESOTA STATE COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES CENTRAL
1.6OFFICE AND SHARED SERVICES UNIT BUDGET CUT.
1.7The appropriation to the Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and
1.8Universities for the central office and shared services unit for the biennium ending June
1.930, 2013, must be at least ten percent less than the appropriation for the central office
1.10and shared services unit for the biennium ending June 30, 2011. Reductions under this
1.11section must not be allocated to any institution and must not be charged back to any
1.12campus or institution.

1.13    Sec. 2. UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS BUDGET
1.14CUT.
1.15The Board of Regents of the University of Minnesota shall expend ten percent less
1.16for administrative services from the appropriation made to the board for the biennium
1.17ending June 30, 2013, than it expended for administrative services from the appropriation
1.18made to the board for the biennium ending June 30, 2011.

1.19    Sec. 3. EFFECTIVE DATE.
1.20Sections 1 and 2 are effective the day following final enactment.
