1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to the BioBusiness Alliance; appropriating money.
1.3BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.4    Section 1. BIOBUSINESS ALLIANCE.
1.5$....... in fiscal year 2012 and each fiscal year thereafter is appropriated from the
1.6general fund to the commissioner of employment and economic development for a grant
1.7to the BioBusiness Alliance of Minnesota for bioscience business development programs
1.8to promote and position the state as a global leader in bioscience business activities.
1.9Funds appropriated under this section may be used to create, recruit, retain, and expand
1.10biobusiness activity in Minnesota; implement the destination 2025 statewide plan; and
1.11develop and implement business and scenario-planning models to create, recruit, retain,
1.12and expand biobusiness activity in Minnesota. The BioBusiness Alliance must report each
1.13year by February 15 to the committees of the house of representatives and the senate
1.14having jurisdiction over bioscience industry activity in Minnesota on the use of funds;
1.15the number of bioscience businesses and jobs created, recruited, retained, or expanded
1.16in the state since the last reporting period; the competitive position of the biobusiness
1.17industry; and utilization rates and results of the business and scenario-planning models
1.18and outcomes resulting from utilization of the business and scenario-planning models.
