1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to state lands; requiring conveyance of certain surplus state land in
1.3Schmidt Wildlife Management Area.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5    Section 1. CONVEYANCE OF SURPLUS STATE LAND; HENNEPIN COUNTY.
1.6(a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, sections 94.09 to 94.16 and 97A.135,
1.7subdivision 2a, the commissioner of natural resources shall convey to the city of
1.8Champlin, for no consideration, the Schmidt Wildlife Management Area land described in
1.9paragraph (c).
1.10(b) The conveyance must be in a form approved by the attorney general. The
1.11attorney general may make necessary changes to the legal description to correct errors
1.12and ensure accuracy. The city shall pay for all transaction costs associated with the
1.13conveyance and maintain the land as open space.
1.14(c) The land to be conveyed is located in Hennepin County and is described as
1.15follows:
1.16(1) part of the Southeast Quarter of the Southwest Quarter of Section 36, Township
1.17120, Range 22 (parcel identification numbers 36 120 22 34 0002 and 36 120 22 34
1.180003); and
1.19(2) the Northwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter, except road, of Section 36,
1.20Township 120, Range 22 (parcel identification number 36 120 22 32 0001).
1.21(d) The Department of Natural Resources has determined that the lands are not
1.22needed and the state's land interests would best be served if the lands were conveyed to a
1.23local unit of government to be maintained as open space.
