1.3vehicle titling transactions;amending Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 168A.29,
1.4subdivision 1.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 168A.29, subdivision 1, is amended to read:
1.7 Subdivision 1. Amounts. (a) The department must be paid the following fees:
1.8 (1) for filing an application for and the issuance of an original certificate of title, the
1.9sum of$6.25 $8.25, of which $3.25 $4.25 must be paid into the vehicle services operating
1.10account of the special revenue fund under section299A.705 ; until June 30, 2012, a
1.11surcharge of $1.75 must be added to the fee and credited to the driver and vehicle services
1.12technology account; from July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2016, a surcharge of $1 $1.25 must be
1.13added to the fee and credited to the driver and vehicle services technology account;
1.14 (2) for each security interest when first noted upon a certificate of title, including the
1.15concurrent notation of any assignment thereof and its subsequent release or satisfaction,
1.16the sum of $2, except that no fee is due for a security interest filed by a public authority
1.17under section168A.05, subdivision 8 ;
1.18 (3)for the transfer of the interest of an owner and the issuance of a new certificate of
1.19title, the sum of $5.50 of which $2.50 must be paid into the vehicle services operating
1.20account of the special revenue fund under section
299A.705; until June 30, 2012, a
1.21surcharge of $1.75 must be added to the fee and credited to the driver and vehicle services
1.22technology account; from July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2016, a surcharge of $1 must be added
1.23to the fee and credited to the driver and vehicle services technology account;
2.1(4) for each assignment of a security interest when first noted on a certificate of title,
2.2unless noted concurrently with the security interest, the sum of $1; and
2.3(5) (4) for issuing a duplicate certificate of title, the sum of $7.25 of which $3.25
2.4must be paid into the vehicle services operating account of the special revenue fund under
2.5section299A.705 ; until June 30, 2012, a surcharge of $1.75 must be added to the fee
2.6and credited to the driver and vehicle services technology account; from July 1, 2012,
2.7to June 30, 2016, a surcharge of $1 must be added to the fee and credited to the driver
2.8and vehicle services technology account.
2.9 (b)After June 30, 1994, In addition to each of the fees required under paragraph (a),
2.10clauses clause (1) and (3), the department must be paid $3.50. The additional $3.50 fee
2.11collected under this paragraph must be deposited in the special revenue fund and credited
2.12to the public safety motor vehicle account established in section299A.70 .
2.13EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective July 1, 2013.
