1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to public health; prohibiting the sale of certain cleaning products
1.3containing triclosan;proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes,
1.4chapter 145.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. [145.945] CERTAIN CLEANING PRODUCTS PROHIBITED.
1.7    Subdivision 1. Prohibition. In order to prevent the spread of infectious disease and
1.8avoidable infections and to promote best practices in sanitation, no person shall offer for
1.9sale in Minnesota any cleaning product that contains triclosan and is used for sanitizing or
1.10hand and body cleansing.
1.11    Subd. 2. Exception. The prohibition in subdivision 1 shall not apply to individual
1.12products for which specific United States Food and Drug Administration approval for
1.13consumer use has been secured.
1.14EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective January 1, 2016.
