1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to education finance; authorizing grants to intermediate school districts
1.3for professional development activities to eradicate exclusionary practices;
1.4appropriating money.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. GRANTS TO ERADICATE EXCLUSIONARY PRACTICES.
1.7    Subdivision 1. Grant authorized. An intermediate school district may apply to
1.8the commissioner of education for a grant of up to $250,000 to provide professional
1.9development to teachers and other school staff to reduce student suspensions and eradicate
1.10other exclusionary policies. The commissioner shall determine the form and manner
1.11of the grant application.
1.12    Subd. 2. Appropriation. $750,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2015 from the
1.13general fund to the commissioner of education for grants to intermediate school districts
1.14under subdivision 1. This is a onetime appropriation.
