1.2relating to teachers; limiting placement of practice or student teachers;amending
1.3Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 122A.69.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 122A.69, is amended to read:
1.6122A.69 PRACTICE OR STUDENT TEACHERS.
1.7The board may, by agreements with teacher preparing institutions, arrange for
1.8classroom experience in the district for practice or student teachers who have completed
1.9not less than two years of an approved teacher education program. Such practice teachers
1.10must be provided with appropriate supervision by a fully qualified teacher under rules
1.11promulgated by the board. A practice or student teacher must not be placed with a
1.12cooperating teacher who received the lowest evaluation rating under the most recent
1.13teacher evaluation conducted according to section 122A.40, subdivision 8, or 122A.41,
1.14subdivision 5. Practice teachers are deemed employees of the school district in which
1.15they are rendering services for purposes of workers' compensation; liability insurance,
1.16if provided for other district employees in accordance with section123B.23 ; and legal
1.17counsel in accordance with the provisions of section123B.25 .
