1.2relating to local government; authorizing town boards to require sewer and water
1.3connections on certain property;amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, section
1.4366.01, by adding a subdivision.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 366.01, is amended by adding a
1.7subdivision to read:
1.8 Subd. 13. Sewer and water connections. If a dwelling or commercial establishment
1.9abuts or is adjacent to a town-operated sewer or water main, the town board may by
1.10ordinance require the owner of the abutting or adjacent property to install water and
1.11sanitary waste facilities in the dwelling or commercial establishment and connect it with
1.12the town-operated sewer and water main. If the property owner fails to install the required
1.13facilities and connections within the time required by the ordinance, the town board may
1.14provide for the installation of the facilities and connections under this section by the
1.15town and for the collection of the cost to the town of the installation of the facilities and
1.16connections as a special assessment against the property.
