1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to health; appropriating money for demonstration grants to prevent
1.3sexual violence.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5    Section 1. APPROPRIATION; PREVENTING SEXUAL VIOLENCE
1.6DEMONSTRATION GRANTS.
1.7(a) $175,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of health
1.8in fiscal year 2012 and in fiscal year 2013 to establish preventing sexual violence
1.9demonstration grants. The appropriation for fiscal years 2012 and 2013 shall be
1.10administered by the commissioner as part of the injury and violence prevention unit in
1.11cooperation with the commissioner of public safety and the Office of Justice Programs.
1.12(b) Of the appropriation in paragraph (a), $210,000 shall be used to establish three
1.13Preventing Sexual Violence Demonstration Communities, selecting sites according to
1.14the epidemiological assessment of the impact of sexual violence, potential for effective
1.15outcomes, and geographic diversity. $70,000 shall be used to contract with a nonprofit
1.16partner to provide technical assistance for design, implementation, and evaluation
1.17of the demonstration grants. $70,000 is available to the commissioner of health for
1.18administration of the demonstration grants.
1.19(c) The appropriations in paragraph (a) are available until expended.
1.20EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
