1.2relating to health; providing a licensing exemption for funeral goods;amending
1.3Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 149A.50, subdivision 1.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 149A.50, subdivision 1, is amended to
1.6read:
1.7 Subdivision 1. License required. (a) Except as provided in section149A.01,
1.8subdivision 3 , no person shall maintain, manage, or operate a place or premise devoted to
1.9or used in the holding, care, or preparation of a dead human body for final disposition,
1.10or any place used as the office or place of business for the provision of funeral services,
1.11without possessing a valid license to operate a funeral establishment issued by the
1.12commissioner of health.
1.13(b) Notwithstanding paragraph (a), the direct sale to consumers of caskets, urns, or
1.14other funeral goods does not require a license.
