1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to traffic regulations; providing that speed in excess of ten miles per hour
1.3over speed limit of 60 miles per hour does not go on driver's driving record;
1.4amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 171.12, subdivision 6.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 171.12, subdivision 6, is amended to read:
1.7    Subd. 6. Certain convictions not recorded. (a) Except as provided in paragraph
1.8(b), the department shall not keep on the record of a driver any conviction for a violation
1.9of a speed limit of 55 or 60 miles per hour unless the violation consisted of a speed greater
1.10than ten miles per hour in excess of a 55 miles per hour the speed limit, or more than five
1.11miles per hour in excess of a 60 miles per hour speed limit.
1.12(b) This subdivision does not apply to (1) a violation that occurs in a commercial
1.13motor vehicle, or (2) a violation committed by a holder of a class A, B, or C commercial
1.14driver's license, without regard to whether the violation was committed in a commercial
1.15motor vehicle or another vehicle.
