A bill for an act

relating to state lands; requiring sale or exchange of riparian school trust lands in
St. Louis County.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

    Section 1. RIPARIAN SCHOOL TRUST LANDS; ST. LOUIS COUNTY.
To ensure equitable results for the permanent school fund in the exchange of riparian
lands under Minnesota Statutes, section 94.342, subdivision 7, all riparian school trust
lands in St. Louis County shall no later than June 30, 2014, be sold at public auction for
no less than the land's appraised value, exchanged for nonriparian land of equal or greater
value, or acquired by condemnation. Delineation of riparian land to be sold or exchanged
under this section shall, to the greatest extent practicable:
(1) correspond with existing land surveys; and
(2) preserve nonriparian land to generate revenue for the permanent school fund.
