1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to economic development; appropriating money for transition and
1.3employment services for deaf, hard-of-hearing, and deafblind individuals.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5    Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS; TRANSITION AND EMPLOYMENT
1.6SERVICES FOR DEAF, HARD-OF-HEARING, AND DEAFBLIND INDIVIDUALS.
1.7(a) $360,000 in fiscal year 2014 and $360,000 in fiscal year 2015 are appropriated
1.8from the workforce development fund to the commissioner of employment and economic
1.9development for a grant to Intermediate School District No. 287 for the purpose of
1.10providing specialized culturally and linguistically appropriate transition services that lead
1.11to employment for deaf, hard-of-hearing, and deafblind students.
1.12(b) $300,000 in fiscal year 2014 and $300,000 in fiscal year 2015 from the workforce
1.13development fund and $100,000 in fiscal year 2014 and $100,000 in fiscal year 2015 from
1.14the general fund are appropriated to the commissioner of employment and economic
1.15development for a grant under Minnesota Statutes, section 268A.03, to Rise, Inc., for the
1.16purpose of providing employment services for individuals who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.
1.17(c) $50,000 in fiscal year 2014 and $50,000 in fiscal year 2015 are appropriated from
1.18the workforce development fund to the commissioner of employment and economic
1.19development for a statewide pilot training program to provide specialized culturally
1.20and linguistically appropriate transition services that lead to employment for deaf,
1.21hard-of-hearing, and deafblind students.
