1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to commerce; prohibiting a seller of goods or services from accepting
1.3a financial transaction card in payment unless photo identification is produced;
1.4proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 325G.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. [325G.053] PHOTO IDENTIFICATION.
1.7(a) A seller of goods or services may not accept a financial transaction card for
1.8payment in a face-to-face transaction unless the purchaser produces a photo identification
1.9that matches the name on the financial transaction card.
1.10(b) For purposes of this section, "financial transaction card" has the meaning given
1.11in section 325G.02, subdivision 2, and "photo identification" means those forms of
1.12identification referenced in section 340A.503, subdivision 6, paragraph (a).
