1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to game and fish; providing for licenses to take deer and angle without a
1.3fee upon discharge from military service;amending Minnesota Statutes 2010,
1.4section 97A.441, by adding subdivisions.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 97A.441, is amended by adding a
1.7subdivision to read:
1.8    Subd. 11. Taking deer; recently discharged veterans. Upon being furnished
1.9satisfactory evidence, a person authorized to issue licenses must issue, without a fee,
1.10a license to take deer by firearms or archery to a resident who has served during the
1.11preceding 24 months in active service, as defined under section 190.05, subdivision 5b
1.12or 5c, as a member of the United States armed forces, including the National Guard or
1.13other military reserves. A resident is eligible for a license under this subdivision once
1.14during a 24-month period.

1.15    Sec. 2. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 97A.441, is amended by adding a subdivision
1.16to read:
1.17    Subd. 12. Angling; recently discharged veterans. Upon being furnished
1.18satisfactory evidence, a person authorized to issue licenses must issue, without a fee, a
1.19license to angle to a resident who has served during the preceding 24 months in active
1.20service, as defined under section 190.05, subdivision 5b or 5c, as a member of the United
1.21States armed forces, including the National Guard or other military reserves. A resident is
1.22eligible for a license under this subdivision twice during a 24-month period.
