1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to state government; authorizing the secretary of state to solicit funds for
1.3certain uses;proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapters 5; 5B.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5    Section 1. [5.38] AUTHORITY TO SOLICIT FUNDS.
1.6Notwithstanding sections 16A.013 to 16A.016, the secretary of state may solicit and
1.7accept funds to be used for technological projects to enhance the state's election system.
1.8The funds accepted under this section must be deposited in the general fund and are
1.9appropriated to the secretary of state for the uses authorized by this section.

1.10    Sec. 2. [5B.12] AUTHORITY TO SOLICIT FUNDS.
1.11Notwithstanding sections 16A.013 to 16A.016, the secretary of state may solicit and
1.12accept funds to be used for the address confidentiality program established in section
1.135B.03. The funds accepted under this section must be deposited in the general fund and
1.14are appropriated to the secretary of state for use in the address confidentiality program.
