1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to mental health; providing medical assistance coverage for services
1.3provided by a licensed professional counselor;amending Minnesota Statutes
1.42012, section 256B.0625, by adding a subdivision.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 256B.0625, is amended by adding a
1.7subdivision to read:
1.8    Subd. 35c. School-based mental health services. Medical assistance covers mental
1.9health services provided in a school as part of a school-linked mental health program by
1.10an individual who is licensed by the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy, Board of
1.11Marriage and Family Therapy, Board of Psychology, or Board of Social Work, and who also
1.12meets the definition of a mental health practitioner under section 245.462, subdivision 17,
1.13or 245.4871, subdivision 26. For purposes of this subdivision, an individual who meets the
1.14definition of mental health practitioner under section 245.462, subdivision 17, or 245.4871,
1.15subdivision 26, is not limited to having less than 4,000 hours of post-master's experience.
1.16The mental health practitioner must be supervised by a licensed mental health professional.
