A bill for an act

relating to local government; authorizing Carlton County to levy a tax for certain
cemetery purposes;amending Laws 1999, chapter 243, article 6, section 11.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

    Section 1. Laws 1999, chapter 243, article 6, section 11, is amended to read:
    Sec. 11. CEMETERY LEVY FOR SAWYER BY CARLTON COUNTY.
    Subdivision 1. Levy authorized. Notwithstanding other law to the contrary, the
Carlton county board of commissioners may annually levy in and for the unorganized
township of Sawyer an amount up to $1,000 annually for cemetery purposes, beginning
with taxes payable in 2000 and ending with taxes payable in 2009.
    Subd. 2. Effective date. This section is effective June 1, 1999, without local
approval.

    Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE; LOCAL APPROVAL.
Section 1 applies to taxes payable in 2014 and thereafter, and is effective the day
after the Carlton county board of commissioners and its chief clerical officer timely
complete their compliance with Minnesota Statutes, section 645.021, subdivisions 2 and 3.
