1.2relating to emergency medical services; authorizing local units of government to
1.3charge a fee for use of public systems and for certain prehospital care;proposing
1.4coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 144E.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.6 Section 1. [144E.53] LOCAL FEES.
1.7 Subdivision 1. Definitions. (a) For purposes of this section, the following terms
1.8have the meanings given.
1.9(b) "Local unit of government" means a statutory or home rule charter city, county,
1.10or joint power authority.
1.11(c) "Unscheduled prehospital care" means emergency services provided in response
1.12to 911 calls or other emergency communications.
1.13 Subd. 2. Authorization. A local unit of government may charge a fee to
1.14any licensed private ambulance service that provides services within the local unit
1.15of government's jurisdiction for the use of public systems and for any unscheduled
1.16prehospital care provided by a first responder or rescue squad agency.
