1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to agriculture; appropriating money for the agricultural growth, research,
1.3and innovation program.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5    Section 1. APPROPRIATION; AGRICULTURAL GROWTH, RESEARCH,
1.6AND INNOVATION PROGRAM.
1.7Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 41A.12, subdivision 3, $2,000,000 is
1.8appropriated from the general fund in fiscal years 2014 and 2015 for the following purposes:
1.9(1) $500,000 each year to the Agricultural Utilization Research Institute;
1.10(2) $500,000 each year to the Minnesota Agriculture Education Leadership Council
1.11for grants to high schools that reestablish agriculture education programs;
1.12(3) $200,000 each year to the director of the Minnesota Extension Service of the
1.13University of Minnesota for 4-H;
1.14(4) $800,000 each year to the commissioner of agriculture for grants to the following
1.15organizations:
1.16(i) $200,000 each year to the Center for Rural Policy and Development;
1.17(ii) $200,000 each year to Farmamerica, the Minnesota agricultural interpretive
1.18center;
1.19(iii) $200,000 each year to the Minnesota FFA Association; and
1.20(iv) $200,000 each year to the Minnesota agriculture and rural leadership program.
