1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to natural resources; modifying terminology;amending Minnesota
1.3Statutes 2012, section 97C.417.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 97C.417, is amended to read:
1.697C.417 REPORTING ASIAN INVASIVE CARP.
1.7    A person who takes any of the following Asian invasive carp species must report the
1.8type of carp taken to the commissioner within seven days of taking:
1.9    (1) grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella);
1.10    (2) bighead carp (Hypophthalmichthys nobilis); or
1.11    (3) silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix).

1.12    Sec. 2. INVASIVE CARP.
1.13The commissioner of natural resources shall not propose laws to the legislature
1.14that contain the term "Asian carp." The commissioner shall use the term "invasive carp"
1.15or refer to the specific species in any proposed laws, rules, or official documents when
1.16referring to carp species that are not naturalized to the waters of this state.

1.17    Sec. 3. EFFECTIVE DATE.
1.18Sections 1 and 2 are effective the day following final enactment.
