1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to education; directing the Board of Teaching to enter into an interstate
1.3reciprocity agreement for teacher licensure;amending Minnesota Statutes 2012,
1.4section 122A.23, by adding a subdivision.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 122A.23, is amended by adding a
1.7subdivision to read:
1.8    Subd. 3. Interstate reciprocity agreement for teacher licensure. Notwithstanding
1.9other provisions of this section or other law to the contrary, the Board of Teaching must
1.10enter into a National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification
1.11(NASDTEC) interstate agreement for teacher licensure to allow fully certified teachers
1.12from other states, identified by the board, to transfer their certification to Minnesota and
1.13receive a full, five-year continuing teaching license without having to complete any
1.14additional exams or other preparation requirements. This subdivision does not apply to
1.15out-of-state applicants holding only a provisional teaching license.
1.16EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective August 1, 2014.
