1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to elections; modifying a criminal penalty for deceiving another person
1.3with the intent to prevent the person from voting in an election;amending
1.4Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 204C.035, subdivision 1.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 204C.035, subdivision 1, is amended to
1.7read:
1.8    Subdivision 1. Criminal penalty. No person shall knowingly deceive another person
1.9regarding the time, place, or manner of conducting an election or the qualifications for or
1.10restrictions on voter eligibility for an election, with the intent to prevent the individual
1.11from voting in the election. A violation of this section is a gross misdemeanor felony.
1.12EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective June 1, 2012, and applies to acts
1.13occurring on or after that date.
