1.2relating to local government; modifying requirements for changing benefits in
1.3a group insurance contract for employees covered by a collective bargaining
1.4agreement;amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 471.6161, subdivision 5.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 471.6161, subdivision 5, is amended to
1.7read:
1.8 Subd. 5. Collective bargaining. The aggregate value of benefits provided by a
1.9group insurance contract for employees in a political subdivision who are covered by
1.10a collective agreement shall not be reduced, unless the public employer and at least
1.11one-half of the total number of exclusiverepresentative representatives of the employees
1.12ofan affected appropriate bargaining unit units, certified under section
179A.12 , agree
1.13to a reduction in benefits.
1.14EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective August 1, 2012, and applies to all
1.15employee group insurance contracts modified or entered into after that date.
