1.2relating to claims against the state; providing for settlement of certain claims;
1.3appropriating money.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS.
1.6The amounts in this section are appropriated from the general fund to the
1.7commissioner of corrections in fiscal year 2013 for full and final payment under Minnesota
1.8Statutes, sections 3.738 and 3.739, of claims against the state for losses suffered while
1.9incarcerated in a state correctional facility or for injuries suffered by and medical services
1.10provided to persons injured while performing community service or sentence-to-service
1.11work for correctional purposes or while incarcerated in a state correctional facility. This
1.12appropriation is available until June 30, 2013.
1.13(a) For sentence-to-service and community work service claims under $500 and
1.14other claims already paid by the department, $3,206.79.
1.15(b) For payment to Heather Buczynski for permanent injuries to her left ankle while
1.16performing sentence-to-service work in St. Louis County, $3,000, and for payment to
1.17medical providers for treatment of Ms. Buczynski, $2,268.82.
1.18(c) For payment to Nathan Clark for permanent injuries to his right hand while
1.19performing assigned duties at MCF-Rush City, $825.
1.20(d) For payment to medical providers for treatment of Gregory Prozinski, who was
1.21injured while performing sentence-to-service work in Morrison County, $1,295.48.
1.22(e) For payment to Chad Westring for wage loss resulting from permanent injuries to
1.23his spine while performing sentence-to-service work in Todd County, $12,270.75.
2.1(f) For payment to William Williams for permanent injuries to his right hand
2.2suffered while performing work through the Institution/Community Work Crew program
2.3at MCF-Lino Lakes, $990.
