1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to housing; providing homeownership grants for families with children
1.3with disabilities; appropriating money.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5    Section 1. APPROPRIATION; HOMEOWNERSHIP PROGRAM FOR
1.6FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES.
1.7(a) $1,200,000 from the general fund is appropriated to the Minnesota Housing
1.8Finance Agency for fiscal year 2015 for a pilot program for families with children with
1.9disabilities to provide grants for homeownership. Eligible families must: (1) have one
1.10child under the age of 19 with a medically diagnosed disability, and (2) have faced housing
1.11instability as renters due to the child's disability in the last two years requiring them to
1.12move or be at risk of losing their current housing.
1.13(b) Of the amount in paragraph (a), $600,000 is to the City of Lakes Community
1.14Land Trust to provide homeownership opportunities for up to eight eligible families to
1.15find safe and stable housing in conjunction with existing programs and provide additional
1.16incentives to families eligible under this section to make homeownership more affordable.
1.17(c) Of the amount in paragraph (a), $600,000 is to Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity
1.18to provide homeownership opportunities for up to five eligible families to find safe and
1.19stable housing in conjunction with existing programs.
1.20(d) Unexpended grant funds from fiscal year 2015 are available in fiscal year 2016.
