1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. [168.122] SPECIAL PLATES SHOWING SUPPORT FOR FAMILY
1.6FARMERS.
1.7 Subdivision 1. Issuance and design. Notwithstanding section 168.1293, the
1.8commissioner shall issue special plates showing support for family farmers to an applicant
1.9who:
1.10(1) is a registered owner of a passenger automobile, one-ton pickup truck,
1.11motorcycle, or recreational vehicle;
1.12(2) pays a fee of $10 for each set of license plates applied for; and
1.13(3) complies with this chapter and rules governing registration of motor vehicles
1.14and licensing of drivers.
1.15 Subd. 2. Design. The commissioner shall design the special plate emblem so that it
1.16bears an inscription "MN Supports Family Farmers."
1.17 Subd. 3. Plates transfer. On payment of a transfer fee of $5, plates issued under
1.18this section may be transferred to another passenger automobile, one-ton pickup truck,
1.19motorcycle, or recreational vehicle registered to the individual to whom the special
1.20plates were issued.
1.21 Subd. 4. Record. The commissioner shall maintain a record of the number of
1.22special plates issued under this section.
1.23 Subd. 5. Fees credited. Fees collected under this section must be credited to the
1.24general fund.
2.1EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective January 1, 2014, for special plates
2.2issued on or after that date.
