1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to arts and cultural heritage; appropriating money to regional library
1.3systems for educational opportunities in the arts, history, literary history, and
1.4cultural heritage of Minnesota; appropriating money.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. APPROPRIATION; REGIONAL LIBRARY SYSTEMS.
1.7$4,250,000 in fiscal year 2012 and $4,250,000 in fiscal year 2013 are appropriated
1.8from the arts and cultural heritage fund to the commissioner of education for grants to
1.9the 12 Minnesota Regional Library Systems to provide educational opportunities in the
1.10arts, history, literary arts, and cultural heritage of Minnesota. The commissioner shall
1.11allocate the grants according to the formula in Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 134.355.
1.12A regional library system may use no more than 2.5 percent of funding received under
1.13this section for administration. A regional library system may use grant funds to sponsor
1.14programs provided by the regional library system, or to provide grants to local arts and
1.15cultural heritage organizations for programs in partnership with the regional library system.
