A bill to amend 1939 PA 288, entitled
"Probate code of 1939,"
(MCL 710.21 to 712B.41) by adding section 23h to chapter X.
the people of the state of michigan enact:
Sec. 23h. If a child whose birth occurred outside the United States or a territory of the United States is adopted by a prospective adoptive parent who is a resident of this state, the child placing agency with whom the prospective adoptive parent is working to secure the adoption of the child shall provide the prospective adoptive parent with notice that he or she must apply for United States citizenship for the child.
